Molasses binder dilution methods

1. Use of molasses as a binder

1.1 For cold-consolidated briquettes, molasses can be used alone as a binder, some of which may need to be diluted during use and a certain temperature is required.

1.2 Molasses can also be used as a binder together with other materials.

1.3 For some briquettes that need special use, molasses may also be used as the main raw material to add other materials to prepare a binder with composite properties.

2. Dilution method of molasses

    2.1 Intermittent dilution method

The intermittent dilution of molasses is carried out in a dilution tank with a stirrer, which usually requires certain heating and heat preservation measures.

The basic method: molasses is pumped to the high-level tank, weighed by a scale and then flows into the dilution tank, while adding a certain amount of water and turning on the stirrer to mix it fully, that is, to get the desired concentration of molasses.

    2.2 Continuous dilution method

Without stirrer continuous diluter, the diluter is a cylindrical tube, along the length of the tube is equipped with a number of hole-plate type partitions and a sieve plate, in order to make the molasses and water better mixed, the hole position on each plate are staggered configuration, that is, a hole in the upper, one in the lower, so that the liquid in the flow process, is turbulent movement, better-mixed molasses and water.

The use of a vertical cylindrical tube with a constantly changing cross-sectional area, the purpose of which is still to ensure good mixing of molasses and water.

3. Dilution of molasses is the calculation of the amount of water added

In order to prepare a diluted molasses solution of a certain concentration, it is necessary to precisely calculate the amount of water to be added with the amount of molasses, which can be calculated by the following formula.

P.c=V.d.c1

P----- amount of molasses (kg)

c----- concentration of molasses (Bx)

v------ volume of molasses hood after dilution (m³)

d-------- specific gravity of diluted solution kg/m³

c1------ concentration of diluted solution (Bx)

The amount of molasses required P = V.d.c1/c

The amount of water to be added to the diluent is w, then w= V.d-p    because: V.d= P.c/c1   w= P.c/c1-p= P(c-c1)/c1

Note: A certain amount of mould inhibitor can also be added when diluting molasses and used to improve its shelf life.
